Sally Noble serves as the Executive Director and Program Officer for the ACM Chicago Programs, providing administrative and academic oversight for the programs. In these roles, she works closely with the directors, faculty, and staff of the Chicago Programs, members of the ACM administration, and college faculty advisors to the programs. While Noble’s work this year has focused on setting up the new Chicago Programs’ facility and bringing the three programs together under a single administrative office, she also plans to teach in the program.
Before joining the ACM, Noble worked as the Associate Director of the South Asia Language and Area Center and the Committee on Southern Asian Studies at the University of Chicago. She has also worked in other areas of educational administration at one of the City Colleges of Chicago, and with a private consulting firm. Her early interest in ACM programs was sparked when working as Assistant Director for the International Understanding Program of the ACM’s Urban Education Program several years ago. Noble holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in South Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, where her studies focused on the religion and literature of southern India. She also holds a BA in Religion from Kalamazoo College.
Noble’s personal participation in experiential education programs, including domestic internships and study abroad, provide the foundation for her long-term commitment to working with multi-cultural and experiential education programs in higher education. As clichéd as the phrase may be, she believes these are experiences that can and do change one’s life forever.
