Pre-departure orientation

Immediately prior to traveling to Botswana, program participants will attend a pre-departure orientation at the ACM office in Chicago. This will include discussions of the program schedule, a review of the personnel involved in the program, security and health in Gaborone, and cultural differences between Botswana and U.S. citizens. When possible, a former director of the program will attend.

Academic program

Students participate in all four components of the academic program listed below. The program is planned as a cohesive whole, and students are expected to participate fully in both in-class and out-of-class activities.
