Independent study project

ACM program faculty or University faculty
4 credits

Each student plans and completes an independent study project under the direction of the ACM program faculty or a member of the University faculty. Projects are expected to emphasize interviews and field observation. Students prepare written reports and make an oral presentation to the group. Students are encouraged to formulate projects to fit their individual interests.

  • Special Education in Botswana
  • Popular Music and Traditional Story-telling in Botswana
  • Community Conservation and Botswana National Parks
  • Condom Use and HIV/AIDS in Botswana
  • Culture and the Study of Anthropology in Botswana
  • Impact of Christian Missionaries on Family Structures in Botswana
  • The State of Contemporary Art in Botswana
  • Urbanization in the Greater Gaborone Region
  • Education for Self Reliance vs. Integration into the Global Economy
  • Public Transportation in Botswana
  • Eco-tourism as an Industry in Botswana
  • Language, Learning and Politics in Botswana
  • Civil Liberties and Human Rights in the Era of Globalization
