Mentoring/Job Shadowing Program

Goals of the program

The Mentoring/Job Shadowing Program provided grant funds for faculty and faculty administrators to visit ACM colleagues in order to seek mentoring and/or advice for activities specifically focused on developing leadership skills within the academic community.

A mentoring visit could be one or two full days, while job shadowing could be a full week. Grant funds provided travel (transportation, food, and lodging) expenses for these visits.

The larger goal of this FaCE Project activity was to assist faculty leaders on campus who were looking to further refine and expand their leadership skills and/or investigate the possibility of an administrative position. In addition, it provided the opportunity for new faculty members at ACM colleges to find mentors -- within or outside their field -- on other ACM campuses.

If the visit was funded, the recipient was asked to provide a brief report and evaluation of the funded opportunity to be sent to the ACM office along with the receipts for expenses.
