Faculty travel grants

Travel grants are available to faculty from ACM colleges for travel to:

GLCA Fund for the Study of Japan

The GLCA Fund for the Study of Japan provides an array of grant opportunities for faculty members engaged in various fields of Japan Studies. These opportunities are supported by an endowment to promote Japanese Studies and Japan-related activities in the United States.

Faculty at member institutions of the GLCA and ACM consortiums are eligible to apply for these grants.

Several categories of grants have been established in response to the nature and scope of the requests the Fund has received over the past few years:

  • Individual Japan Travel
  • Group Japan Travel
  • Individual Domestic Travel
  • Campus Enrichment & Curricular Development
  • Conferences

Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN

Faculty from ACM colleges are eligible for resident faculty research positions in the social and natural sciences, mathematics and computer science with the Oak Ridge Science Semester each fall. Applicants wishing to visit the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will receive reimbursement for travel expenses.

Applications are usually due in mid-August for the following academic year. For more information, contact Christie Kasson, Oak Ridge Science Semester, Denison University, Granville, OH 43023 (740/587-6304).

Newberry Library in Chicago, IL

Faculty at ACM or GLCA colleges who wish to visit the Newberry Library in Chicago can receive grants that cover two nights lodging at a moderately-priced hotel in downtown Chicago. Faculty with an interest in ACM’s programs at the Newberry are encouraged to apply, particularly if they plan to apply to teach at the Newberry in the future. Grants are also available for faculty who wish to investigate research possibilities at the Library.
