ACM Summer 2013 Online Course in Applied Calculus

ACM Summer 2013 Online Course in Applied Calculus April 2, 2013
ACM Summer 2013 Online Course in Applied Calculus

In summer 2013, ACM will offer a pilot online course titled Calculus: A Modeling Approach, which will be open to students enrolled at ACM colleges.  The course is designed primarily for students in the natural sciences and social sciences – such as economics, environmental science, psychology, medicine, ecology, and chemistry – who wish to apply quantitative modeling tools in their discipline.  Two mathematics professors, Kristina Garrett from St. Olaf College and Chad Topaz from Macalester College, are developing the eight-week course and will serve as co-instructors.

The course offers ACM students the flexibility of taking a course during the summer, regardless of where they are living, and the opportunity to enroll in a class that either might not be offered on their own campus or that doesn’t fit into their schedule during the regular academic year.  Course activities will include pre-recorded lectures, online student forums, weekly videoconference tutorials with the instructors, homework assignments, and quizzes and exams.  For detailed information on the course, click here

The application deadline for the course is April 15.   Apply now!
