The American City as Global Classroom: Chicago's Bid for the 2016 Olympics and Human Rights

My semester in Chicago overlapped with the home stretch of the city's bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics, so I oriented my independent project for the semester around the city's consideration (or lack thereof) of affected communities in bidding for the global event. This project, as well as human rights issues in the city and stories from different immigrant communities, created a strong global context for my domestic experiences.
