Women Economic Empowerment and Development: Definitions and Ways of Achieving Success and Empowerment through the Portraits and Voices of Women in Kenya

I will present my findings from the month-long independent research I conducted during my study-abroad program, SIT Kenya: Development, Health and Society.

I will first give an academic framework for the research and introduce the significant role that women economic empowerment plays in the development process. Thereafter, I will state the importance of cultural sensitivity in defining empowerment, and provide the rationale allowing the women to voice the definitions of empowerment.
