Student Symposium on Off-Campus Study
Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest
April 17-18, 2009
Chicago, Illinois
Off-campus study has become an increasingly important part of undergraduate education, and the ACM colleges helped to pioneer this field through the ACM consortium. The ACM member colleges invite two students and one accompanying faculty member from each ACM campus to participate in an all-ACM symposium on off-campus study. The symposium will celebrage the 50th anniversary of the colleges’ collaboration through the consortium and will serve to showcase and reflect upon the results and impact of this kind of study in the ACM colleges.
The ACM Student Symposium will convene at the ACM consortial offices in Chicago, on April 17-18, 2009. Lodging, meals and travel to Chicago will be provided for each participant by the ACM.
The Symposium will have four categories:
- Internship experiences
- Research
- Service learning
- Cultural awareness/personal growth
All of the presenters in each category will present for 8 minutes each. After the presentations in each category are complete, a faculty member will comment and the audience will have time to ask questions before moving on to the next category.
Eligibility
Students must be currently enrolled at an ACM college and must have returned from an off-campus study program. The off-campus study program can be domestic or international. The program can be sponsored by ACM, by a member college, or by another off-campus study provider.
Nominations
Students must be nominated by the Off-Campus Study Director from each ACM campus. Up to two nominations will be accepted from each campus. For more information about the nomination process on your campus, please contact the person listed below.
