Erin McDonnell
- Cornell College
- Florence, Fall 2011

Hometown: DeWitt, IA
Majors/minors: Studio Art and Philosophy majors, English minor
Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: Peer consultant at the Writing Studio, contributor to on-campus literary magazine Open Field, library volunteer.
Why I chose to do this program: I’ve always loved the humanities (especially art), I’ve always wanted to learn Italian, Florence is my favorite city, and this program even has small class sizes and the chance to live with a host family; it seemed like a tailor-made opportunity to study abroad, and you should never say no to perfect.
What I'm most excited about: At this point I’m excited about everything, but I really can’t wait to break out of my comfort zone and experience day-to-day life in an entirely new culture. Spending three months touring museums and cathedrals in one of the most gorgeous cities in the world also doesn’t sound too bad.
Anything else? Carpe diem: sometimes it’s best to embrace the clichés.
