- Carleton College
- India, Fall 2011

Hometown: Jakarta, Indonesia
Major: Sociology and Anthropology
Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I tutor for the Writing Center on campus and I'm a violinist for a chamber music group. Outside of class time, I play Quizbowl, practice with the volleyball team, and work for a responsible endowment committee at Carleton. I’ve interned for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and OurTask, a sustainability-related non-profit in Arlingotn, VA, and I’m looking forward to do non-profit work on sustainable development and potentially pursue graduate studies in cultural anthropology in the future.
Why I choose to do this program: When I was a fourth grader living in Jakarta, Indonesia, I read comic books that are basically adaptations of the Mahabharata, an Indian epic, and visited ancient Hindu-Buddhist temple sites during family vacations. There are such deep historical roots linking Indonesia and India, and being able to explore this connection through an independent study project is something that made me decide to be in this program.
What I’m most excited about: Enjoying the organized chaos of an emerging city in South Asia, and watching tamasha plays for my ethnographic research paper.
