Alice Mitchell
- Beloit College
- Newberry, Fall 2011

Hometown: Northbrook, IL
Majors: History and Women's and Gender Studies double major
Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: On campus, I am involved in Interfaith Club, Beloit Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (BSFFA), Alliance (the GLBTQ organization), and Ballroom Dance Club. I also volunteer for Goldkey, which is the organization that hosts prospective students. I work at the Beloit College Library and am excited to be working in our college archives next Spring.
Why I chose to do this program: I have taken classes with both Diane Lichtenstein and Linda Sturtz, the professors for this seminar, and absolutely adore both of them. Linda is also my advisor. My academic interests involve early American history, which made this particular seminar a perfect match! Linda and another professor, Ellen Joyce, the Newberry program liaison at Beloit, strongly urged me to apply because of that interest.
What I'm most excited about: I am simply excited for the opportunity to do my own research at the Newberry and to live in the city.
