  • Cornell College
  • Florence, Fall 2011

Hometown: Sedona, AZ

Majors: Art History and International Relations double major

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: Residence Life, Music (I play the cello in Orchestra, a Quartet, and other ensembles), Phi Alpha Delta (International Pre Law Fraternity), Work Study (student health and the art history department), Poker, Majong, Hiking, Painting, etc...

Why I chose to do this program: It fit in perfectly with my goals for senior year.  I always wanted to study abroad and the ACM Florence program gives me the opportunity to see and experience the art and culture of Italy.  How great is that?!

What I'm most excited about: Traveling!  I love the prospect of departing from the familiar and stepping a little out of my comfort zone.  Compared to living in small town Iowa, Florence will be an exciting change of scenery.  I also really look forward to meeting new people and learning the nuances of an entirely new language.  Actually, forget the nuances, I will be pleased to just get the basics down first.  Here’s to learning!

Anything else?  I hope to apply the advice of one very wise Mr. Emerson: “Let yourself go.  Pull out from the depths those thoughts that you do not understand, and spread them out in the sunlight and know the meaning of them.” – A Room With a View
