Hometown: Maywood, IL

Majors: Communication & Spanish

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: Student Ambassador on campus, Mentor for Incoming Freshman, Mentor for Chicago Scholars, Latinos Unidos Organization on campus.

Why I chose to do this program: I chose the Costa Rica language & society program because I knew I would not only be able to learn more about Latino culture but also about my identity as a Latina.  I aspire to be a bilingual reporter and would like my career to be involved with Spanish on a daily basis.  Learning about culture and society will only help me better understand my career choice.  In addition, I wanted to retain my Spanish and Costa Rica was one of my top choices when researching study abroad locations.

What I'm most excited about: I'm most excited about meeting my host family because I have never studied abroad nor lived such a long period of time without seeing my parents!  I am excited to learn their traditional dances.
