- Newberry Seminar in the Humanities, Fall 2008

Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Major: English major, with a concentration in African Diaspora Studies
Why I chose to do the ACM Newberry program: I wanted to get a taste of a graduate level seminar, so that I might have a better idea of whether or not graduate school is something that I really, really wanted to do. The idea of spending time in a library of rich resources, and working on an independent research project was very appealing to me, when I was learning about the program.
What I'm most excited about: I'm most excited about meeting the other program participants and our professors. And, of course, diving into the Newberry Library's resources.
What I'm most nervous about: I'm most nervous about writing a sixty-page paper. The longest paper I've ever written was thirteen pages!
Anything else? Yes. I am very excited about living in Chicago and taking in all that the city has to offer. I plan to make the most out of my time here.
