Majors: Environmental Studies and Anthropology

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I am a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Slow Food Emory, and was a Sophomore Advisor for Residence Life at Emory.  I also love to swim and run, and be outside.

Why I chose to do this program: The ACM program seems to perfectly encapsulate my interests in culture and the environment and will help broaden my horizons as I pursue majors in Cultural Anthropology and Environmental Studies.  It is also conveniently located in a beautiful Spanish-speaking country, which is the language I have been studying since ninth grade.  When I was looking at abroad programs I knew I wanted to have an experience that I would never again be able to replicate.  Living with a Costa Rican family and immersing myself in a new language is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

What I'm most excited about: I am most excited for the excursions to coffee farms and banana plantations because organic farming is something I have always been interested in.  I'm really looking forward to seeing what Costa Rica has to offer outside of San José.  I'm hoping to do lots outdoors, including ziplining, visiting the beaches, and hiking.
