  • Lake Forest College
  • Botswana, Spring 2012

Hometown: Sacramento, CA

Majors: I am double majoring in Economics and Spanish.

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: Student Government President, College Council, Development, New Student Orientation Leader.  I am interested in emerging economies, healthcare development, and the production of post-it notes.  (And that isn't a joke!)

Why I chose this program: I chose the ACM Botswana program because there is no better time to explore the world in this manner than as a young college undergraduate.  I have always been interested in living in Africa, and I couldn't pass up this incredible opportunity!  When I was trying to select the right program for me, I realized that I needed to choose a program that would knock me out of my comfort zone just a bit.  Hence, Botswana!

What I'm most excited about: I am most excited about being in a different classroom setting and to meeting the incredible people of Botswana.  I am also excited about being able to travel around Southern Africa, and most importantly, to being exposed to a part of the world with which I am not particularly familiar.

Anything else?  I am sad to be leaving my family at Lake Forest College behind for a semester, but I am anxious to have a life-altering experience!
