- Brazil, Spring 2012

Hometown: Denver, CO
Major/minor: Economics major, with a minor in Music
Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I have played soccer for Coloraco College for two years and I enjoy pretty much everything about CC.
Why I chose this program: I chose ACM's Brazil program for several reasons – the first being an interest in the economic environment of Brazil. More specifically, the environmental economic environment of Brazil. For example, Brazil is the home of the world's largest hydro-electric power plant that is set on powering the upcoming 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics single-handedly. It has recently been running into some problems and I am curious to keep up-to-date on its progress and possibly visit if I come by an opportunity (and hopefully snatch a thesis topic out of it).
What I'm most excited about: Being in a Portuguese class right now, I am very excited to speak and understand Portuguese at a higher level in Brazil and be surrounded by it every hour of the day. It will be a welcome step up from a two-block class of 8 people. In addition, I chose Brazil because I see the world through a lens highly influenced by soccer, and it is at least one of the ways in which I can relate to the culture. I am very excited to experience an entire country that shares the same passion as myself.
