Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL
Majors: Psychology and Spanish
Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I am specifically interested in studying neuropsychology, so I have been involved with a lot of neuroscience research on campus. On campus, I am involved in health and wellness club, modern languages, yoga, choir, and aikido. I spend a lot of my free time helping my psychology professors with their research. My main interests include traveling, photography, dancing, music, languages/cultures, and reading.
Why I chose this program: I chose to do this program because it offers a great research experience as well as enables me to continue speaking and learning Spanish in a Spanish-speaking environment. The fact that I get to design my own research project as a junior in college is amazing. I am also really interested in the Central American culture!
What I'm most excited about: I am most excited to do my own psychology project while speaking Spanish almost 24/7 in a very beautiful country. This is even more exciting because I just studied abroad in Spain and now I am able to compare and contrast the two different cultures, such as the people's mannerisms, religion, food, language, etc. Overall, I am looking forward to meeting new people from other cultures and expanding my comfort zone to learn more about different cultures.
