Hometown: Ashland, OR

Major: Biology, the Ecology and Evolution track

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I am a member of FemCo (the femmist group on campus), Black Student Union, Ballroom Dance Club, Salsa Club, and less frequently the CC student Garden and Project Fuzzy (a group that knits hats for kids with cancer).  I am an editor for the student magazine the Cipher.  My other interests include photography, spoken word poetry, drawing, hiking, camping, and bird-watching (or animal-watching in general).

Why I chose this program: I've had my sights set on the ACM Costa Rica program since freshman year when I first heard about it.  I'm very interested in tropical ecology and doing research in one of the most interesting, biodiverse areas in the world.  It's one of the few programs that really lets students take charge and design their own project.

What I'm most excited about: Too hard to pick just one thing!  Ultimately, I'm most excited about the research, but the first thing I'm thinking about is meeting my host family and exploring a new place.
