Hometown: Victoria, MN

Majors: Biology & Spanish

Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I participate in cross-country and track and field at St. Olaf.  Also, I am a co-director of the on-campus volunteer organization "Reaching Our Goals" which is a Latino youth mentorship program.  Additionally, I help direct Carleton College's involvement with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Northfield event.  Otherwise, I plan to attend medical school or a physician's assistant program after my undergraduate studies.  On the side, I enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking and Nordic skiing.

Why I chose to do this program: I chose to participate in ACM's Costa Rica Field Research program because it allows for a greater level of independence and exploration.  This program is unique since I design and conduct my own research project on a topic of my choice, in coordination with an advisor throughout the process.

What I'm most excited about: Estoy tan emocionada para conocer a los ticos y explorar por los parques nacionales!  (I'm so excited to meet Costa Ricans and explore the national parks!)

Anything else?  I'm looking forward to immersing myself within the Costa Rican culture, developing my Spanish skills, exploring the new environment, and learning more about myself.
