Why I chose to do this program: Well, I'm really interested in improving my Spanish language language skills. I think being fluent in Spanish could be useful in politics for a couple of reasons, either working in hispanic outreach for a U.S. political party or organization, or even working within the government in a foreign relations role. I also thought that I had gone as far as I could in the classroom, and knew it was time for an immersion program. And nothing struck my fancy more than this program, not only due to its focus on language development, but also because of the opportunity to explore a beautiful country with a happy, friendly population. I couldn't have asked for a better program for my purposes.
What I'm most excited about: I'm excited for everything, but some of these weekend field trips sound like fun. I've only been out of the country a few times in my life, and never to Latin America, so I can't wait to explore the country a little bit after settling in San José.
