Hometown: Baudette/Lake of the Woods, MN

Major & minor: Communications major, Biology minor

Why I chose to do this program: For the first eighteen years of my life I grew up 28 miles away from anything remotely close to civilization let alone a city. My college years brought me to a duo city community in Moorhead, MN and Fargo, ND. This was a good size transition community from what I was used to. Through my classroom and personal work experience I have enjoyed exploring how the cities arts, businesses, and socio-political issues intertwine. For me, experience is education. To be a part of the Chicago Urban Studies Program and immersing myself within the culture and diversity of Chicago I am allowing myself to put into practice my classroom learning as well as gain immeasurable knowledge of something I am passionate about.

What I’m most excited  about: I am most excited to be a part of a experience that allows me to have an educational opportunity I wouldn’t have on campus, but more importantly the opportunity to be with other students and professors who are as passionate about Chicago and urban studies as I am.
