Hometown: Bainbridge Island, WA

Major & minor: Environmental Policy major and Latin American Studies minor

Activities & interests: I’m involved with Colorado College’s outdoors recreation club and the microfinance club. My extracurricular interests include mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering, surfing, soccer, and traveling.

Why I chose to do this program: I was first introduced to this program by a professor at my college. After this initial introduction, the Juiz de Fora program appealed to me for two main reasons; the option to do an environmental studies track and the chance to learn Portuguese. I believe that it is important to study other perspectives of how to address the problem of climate change since it is inherently a global problem.

What I'm most excited about: I’m very excited to experience what it is like to study in a Brazilian university. Creating relationships with people in the town and the university will also be an exciting part of the experience.
