Why I chose to do this program: I chose to do this program first and foremost to continue to pursue my passion of politics as it relates to the urban environment. I want to study how urban societies develop and function on a daily basis in the city where the concepts we study have been so important. I believe the best way to truly be able to come to an understanding of any concept or idea is to immerse yourself in it completely. Whether it is a language, a theoretical concept, etc. the only true way to learn it is to surround yourself by living in the environment. This is why I chose to spend my fall participating in the Chicago Urban Studies program, because I believe living in an urban environment which is so central and relevant to everything we will be learning will only make the experience that much more amazing.

What I'm most excited about: I am most excited about being able to continue to pursue my passions in a completely new environment. I grew up outside of Boston, and have studied in New Mexico and Colorado since then. I have never however spent time in Chicago before, and am extremely excited about the opportunity to experience this new city.
