  • Macalester College
  • Botswana, Spring 2011

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN

Majors: Double major in Biology and Chemistry with an added emphasis in Biochemistry.

Campus activities involvement, or other interests: I'm on the pre-medical track, I'm a starting wide receiver on the Macalester football team, and I play on the club hockey team, as well.

Why I chose to do this program: One of the main reasons I chose Botswana is thanks to the program director, Phoebe Lostroh. She came to Macalester last spring and gave a talk about the program and she was so passionate and the topics fit my interests so well that I decided to look into it further.

What I’m most excited about: What I'm most excited about here in Botswana is the volunteer position that I secured.  A fellow international student and I are helping at a local medical center to take patients' histories and vital signs. It will be valuable to interact with local patients and get a feel for how a private clinic operates here in Botswana.
