Campus activities, involvement, or other interests: I work with two mentor groups working with at-risk youth, one centered around the environment, and the other around academics. I am part of the outdoor recreation club, the dance program, and a student group involved with the Mexico-American border conflict.

Why I chose to do this program: I definitely wanted to go on a program where I would be immersed in the Spanish Language – I didn't think there was a better way to improve my speaking skills and comfort level. This program also offered so much opportunity to make it my own, and to ensure I got what I wanted out of an abroad experience. I also think it will attract a variety of people, as we will all be doing different types of research. I can't wait to learn everything about the research and findings of all my peers.

What I'm most excited about: I have heard so many great things I can't even list them all. The surplus of fresh fruit and beautiful weather is definitely on the top of the list. I'm also excited to have hands on experience in an intensive research project – something I haven't ever done before! I think this will be a great experience to get a look at the Global Health field and where my interests could take me in the future.

Anything else?  I can't wait to explore everything the Costa Rica has to offer for the next four months!
