Fellowships Available for 2010-2012
The Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), a consortium of 14 academically excellent, independent liberal arts colleges located in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Colorado, announces the second cohort in the ACM-Mellon Post-doctoral Teacher-Scholar Fellowship Program. With generous support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, this program will place up to 26 new PhDs in two-year teaching and research residencies on campuses of the ACM member colleges over the next five years.
The Program gives select new PhDs the opportunity to launch their careers in a liberal arts college setting ideal for advancing their research agendas together with their teaching aspirations, while enjoying extensive peer support. Fellows will have a one-half teaching load and will receive strong support for their research; the Fellowship program combines campus-based mentoring with consortial orientations and workshops to provide the Fellows a rich introduction to teaching, scholarship, and professional development at residential liberal arts colleges.
The ACM — Beloit, Carleton, Coe, Colorado, Cornell, Grinnell, Knox, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Luther, Macalester, Monmouth, Ripon, and St. Olaf — celebrated its 50th year as a consortium in 2008. Dedicated to strengthening its member colleges as leaders and exemplars in liberal arts education through significant, innovative, and sustainable collaborations, the ACM fosters professional effectiveness of faculty and administrative leaders at member colleges, provides exemplary liberal arts learning through off-campus study, and promotes excellence in teaching and learning, especially as achieved through collaboration.
The following six colleges will hire ACM-Mellon Fellows for the 2010-12 academic years. Position descriptions are linked below. Please direct all correspondence to the individual search chair.
