Fall 2008 cycle
Four proposals were funded in the Fall 2008 cycle.
- The Creation of Short-Term International Study Courses – A Collaborative Research project between Cornell and Colorado College faculty members to develop and teach a short-term, interdisciplinary, collaborative course (or courses) in Japan.
- Learning Together: A Ripon College Archaeometry Working Group on Teaching and Research – A Collaborative Research project providing a range of opportunities for faculty and students to learn about and explore archaeometry, the use of physical sciences in archaeology to answer specific research questions about material culture and human behavior in the past.
- Collaborative SOTL Research Project to Assess and Strengthen Biology Education – This project, arising out of the Fall 2008 FaCE conference on Assessment: Department by Department (sponsored by Lake Forest College) , will gather biology faculty from five colleges to 1) compare and contrast curricula and student outcomes; 2) refine current assessment instruments; 3) implement similar assessment tools at the various colleges; and 4) investigate mechanisms to improve the education of biology students.
- Intentional Integration of Academic and Athletic Programs – Support for a Collaborative Event with faculty, athletic staff, and other administrators at ACM colleges to strengthen ties and respect between faculty and coaches, identify and strengthen the existing overlap of student learning that occurs both in the classroom and through participation in sports, and create new and innovative ways to increase the overlap in an intentional way both in the classroom and out of the classroom.
