Spring 2008 cycle
These eight proposals were funded in the spring cycle in 2008 for activities during the 2008-09 academic year.
- CLA in the Classroom Academy -- Workshop in fall 2008 at Carleton College in collaboration with Macalester College and St. Olaf College
- Support for six participants to attend the opening conference of the Collegium on Student Learning funded by the Teagle Foundation and hosted by Monmouth College on November 21-23, 2008.
- Faculty Assessment of Student Learning, Department by Department -- Workshop on October 24-25, 2008 at Lake Forest College
- The Outdoor Classroom: Recent advances in mobile computing for the field sciences -- Workshop in summer 2009 at Lawrence University's Bjorklunden Vid Sjon in Door County, Wisconsin
- Support for a workshop on Pedagogies of Engagement in the STEM Disciplines, which took place at Grinnell College on December 5-7, 2008. This workshop, supported in part by the National Science Foundation’s Project Kaleidoscope, ultimately aimed to use regional and national networks to advance tested and effective pedagogies in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields, promoting both faculty and pedagogical development.
- Resource Wars, Popular Movements, and Gender Dynamics in Bolivia and Ecuador: A Multi-Year Collaborative Approach to Social Movement Research -- Paul Dosh, Political Science, Macalester College
- A Sustainable International Student Teaching Experience for ACM Students and Faculty -- At Ripon College in collaboration with Beloit College, Colorado College, and Lawrence University
- The Teaching of Latino Studies -- Workshop on April 17-18, 2009 at Beloit College in collaboration with Cornell College and Lake Forest College
For the Spring 2008 and Fall 2008 cycles, the FaCE Steering Committee served as the Evaluation Committee for proposals. The members:
