Tour and welcome message from the
CIEL office at Universidad La Salle

While in Mexico City, students will be based at the Center for International Education (CIEL) at Universidad La Salle. Universidad La Salle is one of the largest and most prestigious private universities in Mexico, noted for its campus facilities, the personal attention given to students, its traditional values, and community spirit.  With approximately 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, it has a large, attractive campus which is centrally located in the heart of the trendy, bohemian neighborhood of La Condesa, the "Greenwich Village" of Mexico City.  The campus can easily be reached by subway, bus, or taxi.  It is also within walking distance of many restaurants, cafes, bookstores, museums, clubs, shops, and parks, and is just a 20-minute walk (or 10-minute taxi ride) from the historic downtown center of Mexico City.  Los Pinos, the Mexican president's residence, is located nearby, as is Chapultepec Park and the touristic Zona Rosa.

The CIEL is located next to the main campus, in a beautiful historic house called the “Casa Rosa.”  It is the coordinating center for La Salle's international activities, academic exchanges, and is the information and support center for all its international visitors.  The staff has extensive experience organizing programs for international students, designed to help build understanding between Mexico and other nations.  Their programs include a broad range of academic and cultural exploration in Spanish language and Mexican society.

They are also experienced at arranging homestays, placing students with service learning experiences in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and organizing speakers and local excursions.

Christina Moore My experience in Mexico was deeper and richer than I ever could have expected. I had a fantastic host family that taught me so much about the language, the culture, the city, and even about myself. My language skills have improved, I met so many wonderful people, and I had a great experience during my internship, which was both challenging and fun. Mexico City is a beautiful place with endless opportunities and the people are welcoming and friendly. It was an experience I'll never forget and that I'll continue to draw upon both academically and personally.
