Students will be responsible for their own travel to and from Mumbai, India. Students will be then picked up by ACM staff in Mumbai and transportation will be provided to Pune. The ACM India Summer Program is a six-week long program (with an option to extend to eight weeks). Here is a sample schedule for the duration of the program- please note that dates and activities listed here are subject to change:

Orientation period - Intensive Marathi language classes, field trips around Pune, visits to NGOs, classes about Indian culture.

Visit to a rural village in Melghat - Living in the village, learning about and working with NGOs in a rural setting.

Work with specific NGO - Students may have the opportunity to work in an urban setting in Pune, or a rural setting in Melghat. There will be daily and weekly structured reflection and analysis about the volunteer work experience.

Program wrap-up in Pune, with presentations and discussion of work experiences.

For students who are interested in extending the program to include an additional two weeks of service learning work in their non-governmental organization (NGO), the additional two weeks would be added at the end of the program. If you are interested in extending your experience to eight weeks, at pro-rated costs, make sure to indicate this on your application.
