ACM has two short-term programs available in the summer to students who are interested in service learning work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), along with cultural and language immersion:
The ACM Mexico Summer Program: Service Learning & Language Immersion takes students into the heart of Mexico City, where they will be immersed in Mexican culture and Spanish language. Students will be placed in one of a variety of NGOs for the duration of the program, actively engaged in service learning work with their specific organization. In addition, students will spend time taking intensive Spanish language classes, classes on Mexican history and culture, various field trips, and living with a host family.
The ACM India Summer Program: Service Learning & Cultural Immersion takes students to Pune, India, where they will be immersed in Indian culture. Students will be placed in an NGO in either an urban setting or a rural village setting, actively engaged in service learning work with their specific organization. In addition, students will spend time learning conversational Marathi language, taking classes about Indian culture and history, going on various field trips, and living with a host family and/or an experience living in a rural village.
