Ziliang “Alex” Liu Coming from Asia, I have always been curious about the "Renaissance" part of the Western art and wanted to learn more about it. The ACM Florence program was truly the perfect match for this purpose, as we were able to "marinate" ourselves in Florentine culture: not only did we study Florentine Renaissance art in the on-site lectures, we also studied the language and lived in the city with Florentine families. The program is also designed to emphasize on the inseparable ties between the Renaissance art and the people of Florence today. Over the program, I was able to study in depth about Florentine Renaissance art and culture, as well as its continuing legacy that shapes the Florence today – Who said art is a lofty thing that does not have anything to do with everyday life?

—Ziliang “Alex” Liu, Florence, Fall 2010
