Costa Rican dances

At the program's welcome party, students learn traditional and popular dances.

Top: Alzando las manos, a popular dance.

Above, left and right: Amor de temporada, a dance that tells the story of a summer fling.

Left: Corridas a la tica, a dance meant to resemble a bull fight. In Costa Rica, the bulls aren't killed -- people jump into the ring and get chased by the bull!

Above, right: Punto Guanacasteco, a dance which is occasionally interrupted by someone who shouts a rhyming verse in order to try and win over a love interest.
