Immersion in daily life in Costa Rica

With a host family memberFrom the moment they arrive in San Jose, students on the fall semester Studies in Latin American Culture and Society program are immersed in daily life in Costa Rica.

They live with families in the city, study Spanish in small classes taught by native speakers, and conduct independent research on contemporary social and political issues.

Touring a butterfly farm

They explore this beautiful, diverse country during a two-week stay in a rural area and on excursions and field trips.

Language study is emphasized across the curriculum, providing an in-depth understanding of a culture.

Students and a host family member take a break during the program’s annual soccer match.

The ACM center, located in the capital city of San José, is a Spanish-only environment with classrooms, library and computer facilities. In addition, students have access to recreational activities and library facilities at the University of Costa Rica.
