Living and studying

A student with his host familyHomestay with a Costa Rican family

The homestay experience is a central part of the program. Living with a family provides an excellent opportunity to learn about Costa Rican culture.

The student's family provides a room, laundry service, breakfast and dinner during the week, and all meals on weekends.

Right: A student with members of his host family.

At the ACM center

Classes at the ACM center in San Jose

A Spanish-speaking environment is maintained at the ACM center, where the program's classes are held. The center also has a library, computer and audiovisual facilities, and a lounge.

Students have access to facilities at the University of Costa Rica, which is nearby. Students can use the university’s sports facilities (gymnasium, pool, basketball courts) and can join clubs and teams (chess, outdoor activities, basketball, tennis).

ACM promotes interaction with university students by coordinating visits to English classes. Students also receive orientation to facilitate their bibliographical research in the university’s library system.
