Colorado. 1996. 31pp. My project was realized during the months of March and April of 1996 through the use of formal and informal interviews with residents of Cahuita, a small town on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, and information gathered at the National Library of Costa Rica in San José and the Library of the University of Costa Rica in San Pedro. The research was conducted with the goal of documenting the rapid changes the town of Cahuita has undergone, beginning with the creation of Cahuita National Park in 1970 and spanning the subsequent years as the town made the transition from an agrarian to a tourist economy. The paper incorporates interviews done with many of the residents of Cahuita during the month of March, and documents the changes they have experienced. The statistics found in the libraries give a broader picture of what was going on in Limón during this period, and show how important outside influences were in shaping Cahuita. |
