Rich Hensey joined the ACM in 2021. He leads financial planning to support new program development and the long-range strategic priorities of the ACM, ensuring that multi-year financial plans, annual operating budgets, and associated forecasts that effectively and efficiently advance the ACM’s mission.

Prior to joining the ACM, Hensey was the Director, Financial Planning and Reporting, Operations, at the church headquarters of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in Chicago. He began his career in finance at Deere & Company. He later moved to John Deere/Sentry Insurance before becoming the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Planning Officer, and lecturer in law and business at Tumaini University – Iringa University College in Tanzania. After returning to the U.S., Hensey worked as the Vice President for Finance at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. 

Hensey received his bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and a juris doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law. He holds law licenses in both Wisconsin and Illinois. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA) in the state of Illinois, as well as a certified internal auditor and certified fraud examiner.
