“It’s been a great way to understand the culture more and have a broader worldview,” said Hope College student Aaron McEachran, as he summed up his experience living with an Italian host family.

McEachran and several of his classmates on the ACM program in Florence shared their perspectives in a new video about the value of living with host families during off-campus study.

From having the chance to practice their Italian language every evening around the dinner table, to getting recommendations on places to go and local restaurants to try, to visiting the countryside on excursions with their host families, the students pointed out a variety of ways that homestays enriched their study away experience.

Check out the video to find out what it’s like to live with a host family on an ACM program!
