Online Course Design & Pedagogies Workshop

Following the abrupt shift to remote learning last spring, the Associated Colleges of the Midwest developed a summer workshop series to enhance online course design and pedagogy.

The ACM is an incubator and catalyst for relevant programming that advances the academic and professional success of faculty, students, and staff at the 14 liberal arts member campuses. The eight-week series, recorded June-August 2020, is now available for streaming to all liberal arts educators.

  • SESSION 1Teaching and learning with care and hope: ways of being with crisis, trauma, and uncertainty in the classroom and beyond
  • SESSION 2The liberal arts mindset at a distance: tactics for building a hybrid course
  • SESSION 3Reimagining your syllabus for responsiveness: aligning goals, assessment, and strategies for teaching
  • SESSION 4Developing effective assignments for the hybrid context and beyond
  • SESSION 5 | Design your course once for multiple modalities
  • SESSION 6 | Considerations for hands-on/performance/embodied experiences in remote learning environments
  • SESSION 8 | Engineering student collaboration and group work

Session 7 was a group reflection on Sessions 1-6 and was not recorded.
