The Innovation Ecosystem of Silicon Valley

test subtitle

Curricular materials created for the 2016 SAIL seminar:

Silicon Valley as an Innovation Ecosystem

Overview

The innovation ecosystem of Silicon Valley: what it is, what it does, and what it means. Silicon Valley—with its startups, tech giants, Stanford, and venture capital—has become synonymous with cutting-edge innovation. What are the elements of the ecosystem that encourages that innovation? What practices do established tech giants and new startups follow to stimulate innovative thinking and initiative? What is the role of art, architecture, and creativity in these organizations? What are the incentive structures and the models of learning, communication, and apprenticeship that they embrace? How does the culture created in these firms affect the broader culture in the community?
