ACM Oak Ridge Science Semester Application

Students currently enrolled in any U.S. college or university are welcome to apply. In order to be eligible for participation in the Oak Ridge Science Semester (ORSS), you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (LPR), or eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) in the U.S. If you have questions about your eligibility for the program, please contact ACM at 312-263-5000 or before continuing your application. Please also note that acceptance into the ACM ORSS program is dependent upon successful placement with an Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) research group.

Please contact your college's off-campus study office or designated program advisor immediately to discuss your plans. Your college may require additional application materials and important campus deadlines may be considerably earlier than the ACM deadlines.

The ORSS application contains several steps that may be completed in any order. You must also have off-campus study approval from your home campus. The deadline for submitting all application requirements is October 1, 2020. Please see below for detailed information on each application requirement. If you have additional questions about the program and/or application, please contact ACM at or 312-263-5000.

Off-campus study approval

Please contact your college’s off-campus study office immediately to discuss your off-campus study plans and to receive information regarding the specific application procedures and deadlines for your campus. Your college’s application process may involve additional application materials, and campus deadlines may be considerably earlier than the ORSS deadline. This process should be completed as early as possible so that your application will meet any campus deadlines as well as the ORSS deadline. If your college does not have an off-campus study office, speak with the appropriate faculty advisor for the program on your campus. Remember that you must have off-campus study approval from your home campus in order participate in ORSS.
