Location & Facilities

Place yourself at the heart of economic, social, and political affairs in Latin America. With rich natural resources, a multicultural society, and the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil is a prominent player in the international community.

During the semester, experience life in the historic and exciting city of Rio de Janeiro. From its annual Carnival celebration to its renowned futebol teams, Rio is a dynamic cultural center. While Rio’s downtown area is marked by industrial innovation, you’ll also see how the city is responding to social issues, including a growing population and increasing divides between the rich and the poor.

You’ll find structures in Rio that span centuries, including an 18th century public garden, the largest library in Latin America, and state-of-the-art museums and skyscrapers. Rio’s stunning mountain and sea landscapes are marked as a World Heritage Site, while the massive statue of “Christ the Redeemer” on Corcovado Mountain is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

Rio allows you to explore captivating music scenes, white sand beaches, festivals, and cultural landmarks in theatre, fine art, history, and the natural sciences. Spend a semester in Rio de Janeiro and see why it’s hailed internationally as the Cidade maravilhosa, the “Marvelous City.”
