Learn a new language and deepen your experience.

Throughout the semester, your Portuguese language classes will give you the basic skills you’ll need to build relationships with your host family, meet Brazilian students, and interact with residents at volunteer sites.

Live in a culturally thriving city.

Rio de Janeiro is known for its vitality, which can be seen through festivals, football games, and active arts scenes. You’ll grow to understand why Brazilians feel so passionately about the city of Rio.

Take learning into your own hands.

You won’t be learning about Brazil in textbooks—you’ll directly engage with current social issues by volunteering in communities within the city or conducting independent research related to Brazilian society.
